Pontotoc County Courthouse

july 2011 | county government | ada, ok

Architects In Partnership was selected to renovate the Pontotoc County Courthouse, which also included the master plan of two city blocks housing all county departments and services. The project comprised three phases: exterior waterproofing and re-roofing of the courthouse; master planning, renovation and relocation of departments to adjacent buildings; and finally the renovation of and addition to the existing courthouse.

Being on the National Register of Historic Places, the courthouse required a thoughtful design approach to maintain the character of the existing facility while providing a reorganization of departments, code compliance/accessibility upgrades and effective blending of new architectural features with existing. The approximate square footage of the entire project was 50,300; 26,600 s.f. was the historic courthouse renovation and addition.
