The new student housing facility for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College is a modern apartment-style housing complex designed to compliment the existing campus buildings. It replaces the former married student housing that was devastated by a recent flood. The new building will anchor and define the southwest corner of campus by turning a challenging site into an asset: the design of the main entry utilizes the required six feet of infill to lift the building out of the flood plain to create a monumental raised corner plaza and exterior gathering space for the students.
Two and four bedroom units in opposite wings allow flexibility for the college to designate sections of the facility as married housing. Amenities include: a two-story open atrium lobby with study and social spaces, a fireplace, vending and internet café, on-site laundry, community kitchen and outdoor recreation spaces. Handicapped-accessible and Resident Director units are centrally located to allow supervision of shared and public spaces.
