Barry Switzer Center

1996-2004 | higher education | norman, ok

In association with HOK Sports Facilities Group of Kansas City, Architects In Partnership provided preliminary design, bidding, and construction observation services for the Barry Switzer Center, which is located at the south end of Memorial Stadium. It is a three-story tribute to The University of Oklahoma’s football team that includes “Legend’s Hall”, a museum devoted to Oklahoma’s football triumphs. The endeavor expanded and renovated the existing athletic department administration offices, coaches’ offices, locker rooms & football players’ lounge; and created a new weight training and sports medicine facility.

AIP/HOK also designed the student athlete learning center that is located on the north end of OU’s Owens Stadium. The center is open to students over 90 hours a week and is a top grade example of a student athlete support center. The facility is 30,000 square feet and includes a writing laboratory, computer laboratory, communications and media center, a career center, classrooms, administration offices, and a study hall for the “O” club. The project was completed in 2004 as part of the stadium master plan.
